The HPPSC Mains examination consists of compulsory subjects and one optional subject. Prior to the main examination, a preliminary objective type examination comprising multiple-choice questions is conducted.
The HPPSC Mains syllabus comprises eight papers or subjects, out of which six are compulsory and two are optional. The syllabus shares a significant portion with the UPSC syllabus, including current affairs and general aptitude.
