(a) The selection process is outlined as follows:
- Initial shortlisting of applications will be based on the normalized marks obtained by candidates in their qualifying degree. These marks will be normalized using the formulae provided at https://www.joinindiannavy.gov.in/files/normalisation.pdf.
- For candidates who have completed or are in their final year of BE/B Tech, the marks obtained up to the fifth semester will be considered for SSB shortlisting.
- Candidates with a Post-Graduate Degree (MSc/ MCA/ M Tech) will have their marks from all semesters considered. Final year students pursuing these degrees will have marks up to the pre-final year taken into account.
(b) Shortlisted candidates will receive notification of their selection for the SSB interview via email or SMS (as provided in their application form). Candidates are advised to keep their email and mobile number unchanged until the selection process is completed.
(c) Change of SSB Center for the examination/interview will not be allowed under any circumstances.
(d) Call-up letters are to be downloaded once candidates receive notification from IHQ MoD (N) via SMS/email. Any inquiries or requests regarding changes to SSB dates should be directed to the call-up officer of the respective SSB after receiving the call-up letter.
(e) Compensation will not be provided for any injuries sustained during SSB interviews.
(f) Candidates appearing for the SSB interview for the first time for a particular type of commission are eligible for AC 3 tier rail fare reimbursement. Candidates must bring a photocopy of the first page of their passbook or a cheque leaf displaying their name, A/C number, and IFSC details.
(g) Detailed information about the SSB procedure is accessible on the Indian Navy website: www.joinindiannavy.gov.in.
- The merit list will be formulated based on SSB marks. Candidates declared medically fit will be appointed contingent upon police verification, character verification, and the availability of vacancies within the entry.
- Selected candidates will be granted an initial Short Service Commission for 10 years, extendable by a maximum of 4 years in 2 terms (2 years + 2 years). This extension is subject to service requirements, performance, medical eligibility, and the candidates' willingness.
(a) Candidates will join as Sub Lieutenants.
(b) After selection, candidates will undergo a Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, followed by professional training at Naval Ships and training establishments in accordance with existing regulations.
(c) Only unmarried candidates are eligible for training. If a candidate is found to be married or marries during training, they will be discharged, required to reimburse their pay and allowances, and cover other expenses incurred by the Government.
(d) In case an officer voluntarily withdraws from initial training or resigns during the probationary period, they will need to reimburse the cost of training partially or in full, along with the pay, allowances, and interest received from the Government, as determined.
- The probation period for SSC (IT) Officers is two years. It commences from the date of being granted the rank of Sub Lieutenant and ends after two years or upon the completion of initial training, whichever is later. Unsatisfactory performance during probation may result in discharge at any stage.
Candidates are required to complete the application process on the Indian Navy website, www.joinindiannavy.gov.in, starting from 4th August 2023. To streamline the application submission process, applicants can pre-fill their details and upload necessary documents in advance. The procedure for online application is outlined as follows:
(a) When filling out the electronic application, it's advisable to have the necessary documents readily accessible to ensure the following:
(i) Accurate completion of personal details, matching the information on the Matriculation Certificate.
(ii) Essential fields like email address and mobile number must be completed.
(b) All pertinent documents (preferably in their original form), including marks sheets up to the 5th and 7th semesters for regular and integrated BE/B.Tech courses respectively (for candidates in their final year), transcripts for all semesters (for candidates with completed degrees), proof of date of birth (in accordance with the 10th & 12th certificates), CGPA conversion formula for BE/B.Tech, NCC 'C' certificate from the National Cadet Corps, and a recent passport-sized color photograph should be scanned in original JPG/TIFF format. These documents should be attached during the application process. Applicants are required to keep a printed copy of their application when attending the SSB interview.
(c) In case any scanned document is unclear or unreadable for any reason, the application will be rejected.
(d) Once submitted, the application is considered final, and requests for amendments or changes will not be entertained.
(a) It is imperative to thoroughly read the instructions on the website before finalizing your online application.
(b) False declarations at any stage of the selection process will result in the cancellation of your candidacy.
(c) The use or possession of narcotics is strictly prohibited. Candidates may be screened for the presence of drugs during SSB selection, medical evaluations, training, and subsequently during their service. If a candidate is found to be using or in possession of narcotics at any point during selection, training, or service, they will be disqualified from joining the Indian Navy or will be discharged if already enlisted.
(d) Your application is subject to subsequent scrutiny, and it may be rejected if found to be ineligible or invalid at any stage.
