1. Physical Test (PET): Candidates have to go through the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates who meet the prescribed physical standards for height, chest, and weight will proceed to the next stage, which is the Written Exam.
2. Written Exam: Candidates who pass the physical test will move on to the Written Exam. This test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, with each correct answer earning half a mark. There is no negative marking,in the Paper and the question paper is available in Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, and English.
3. NCC: Candidates holding NCC certification. will get additional points.
4. Oral/Viva Voce & Boating and Swimming Test: The final phase involves an Oral/Viva Voce interview and a Boating and Swimming Test.
